April 15 (SeeNews) – US renewable energy developer Apex Clean Energy has acquired a wind project with a potential to support 175 MW of capacity in Illinois.

The Charlottesville, Virginia-based company said Thursday it has bought the Sugar Creek Wind One project from American Wind Energy Management Corp (AWEM). Apex president Mark Goodwin described the asset as a high-quality project in an important market.

“We look forward to working hand-in-hand with the Apex team through the final stages of development and into construction,” said Andreas Knauer, president of AWEM.

No financial or timeframe details were provided.

Last year, Apex completed slightly more than 1 GW of wind facilities in the US, which represents 12% of the total of 8.6 GW of wind capacity installed in the country, according to data by the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA).
